Lois Mailou Jones
In honor of Black History Month, this February we will be featuring the work of artists who got their start during the Harlem Renaissance. Today's artist is painter and art educator Lois Mailou Jones. Scroll through to see some images of her graphic, colorful paintings inspired by Haitian and African textiles and visual art. Jones travelled extensively, became an important documentarian of African diaspora and art history, and work tirelessly to help artists from Africa and the Caribbean gain visibility abroad.
