Fireworks Painting Craft
Light up the holiday weekend with this simple and fun fireworks painting project! This project is fun for all ages and will give your child the chance to practice several different art techniques. Read below to learn how to make your own!
Materials Needed:
- Construction paper (black, yellow, and blue/gray)
- Scissors
- Glue or glue stick
- Toilet paper tubes
- Washable Paint Set
- Paint brush
Instructions
Step 1
Cut out the shapes of a few buildings from your black construction paper. These can simply be rectangles, or you can cut them out to have pointy or round roofs. Arrange them along the bottom of your blue/gray paper and glue them in place. Cut small squares and rectangles from your yellow paper and glue them onto the buildings to look like windows!
Step 2
Use your scissors to make cuts around one end of your toilet paper tube. Each cut should be about 2 inches long and they can be as wide or narrow as you like! Once you have cut all the way around the tube, fold out the flaps.
Step 3
Use your paintbrush to apply paint to the pieces of the tube that you cut. Turn the tube over and press the painted side onto your paper above the buildings. Press down with your fingers to help the paint transfer onto the paper. Gently pull it up to reveal your fireworks!
Step 4
Continue adding fireworks to the sky until you feel it is complete! Try different colors and don’t be afraid to overlap them. Once you are finished, let your painting dry.
