Valentine's Day Tape Resist Art
Use your My First Painting Collection to create this beautiful Valentine’s Day painting! This painting technique is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers but would be fun for kids of all ages. Read below to learn how to make your own LOVE painting.
Materials:
- Canvas board
- Painters tape OR washi tape
- Scissors
- My First Painting Collection
- Black, permanent marker
Instructions:
Step 1
Use the tape to create the letters of the word LOVE on your canvas board. Cut pieces of tape into the right lengths and widths to create your letters. We used a heart for the letter “O”. To create the heart, overlap several pieces of tape to create a square and then cut out the heart shape with scissors. Place all of your letters down on your canvas board and press them firmly.
Step 2
Use the paints and painting tools from the My First Painting collection to paint over your canvas board! You can paint right over the tape. Allow your kids to choose 2-3 colors that coordinate to keep your painting from becoming too brown as colors mix. We used blue, red, and purple!
Step 3
Once your painting has completely dried (you can leave it overnight to be sure!) carefully peel off the tape to reveal the letters! If your edges are not quite as clean as you’d like, you can outline your letters with a black permanent marker.
