Valentine's Fringe Cards DIY
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and it’s one of our favorite holidays! Celebrating love and all things pink just bring so much joy! And what’s a better way to tell someone you care than with a handmade card?
Create a fringe layered, heart shaped card using the steps below! This card has tons of texture and color, plus features hearts in multiple ways to show all your love!
Materials Needed:
- Construction Paper
- Felt Strips (included in Arts and Crafts Supply Library)
- Fuzzy Sticks (included in Arts and Crafts Supply Library)
- Glue Dots or Hot Glue
- Scissors
- Marker or Pen
Instructions:
Step 1
Fold your construction paper in half and draw a large heart, measuring 5-6” tall. As you draw your heart, let a portion of the left side fall off the folded edge so your heart is the card itself.
Step 2
Cut the heart shape out with the paper still folded, being sure to not cut the entire fold off so it holds the two sides of the card together.
Step 3
Cut the felt strips in half length wise, then cut thin fringe across the entire length of each half strip. You will need 10-12 half strips of fringe per card (depending on the size of your card)
Step 4
Using glue dots or hot glue, add glue dots onto the edges of the front of the heart shape. Starting at the bottom of the heart, place a fringe strip horizontally covering the point of the heart and both sides. Add a second fringe strip layered on top of the first, continue adding one strip at a time until the front of your card is covered with fringe.
Turn the card over and trip all the excess fringe off, cutting along the heart shape.
Step 5
Using 2 small metallic fuzzy sticks, twist the ends of them together at one end and curve them into a heart shape and twist the bottom ends together to form a heart. Glue the fuzzy stick heart on top of the fringe to finish the front of your card.
Step 6
Write a sweet message to your Valentine, friend or family and give away your handmade card on Valentine’s Day!
